How we research

What we are

We do not have physical access to the products we write about. Every factual claim we publish originates from a cited public source. Our value to the reader is synthesis: reading far more sources than any person reasonably would, then reporting where they agree, where they conflict, and what nobody has addressed.

What we never do

• Claim to have used, tested, or handled a product ourselves.
• Invent measurements, prices, dates, or quotes — if it isn't in a cited source, it doesn't appear.
• Publish a claim that doesn't trace to a specific source.
• Call our own content a "review," or ourselves reviewers.
• Average away disagreement between sources — conflicting evidence is reported as conflicting.

Sources

We gather only from a maintained whitelist of source classes: manufacturer and official documentation, established professional publications, standards bodies, and owner-report communities. Paywalled content, content farms, and sites blocked by robots.txt are never accessed. Before counting sources toward consensus, we trace claims to their origin — outlets repeating one original test count as a single source, not several.

Coverage minimums apply by content type (for example, at least 8 independent sources for a research roundup, 20+ owner reports across two or more platforms for a reliability report). If a topic can't meet its minimum, we skip it rather than publish thin coverage.

Confidence and disagreement

Every roundup states how many sources back each claim — "9 of 12," never "most." Where sources disagree, we report both positions and, where we can determine one, the likely explanation: a hardware revision, a difference in test conditions, or simple error. Thin evidence is labelled thin; we would rather say "the evidence is too thin to say" than manufacture false confidence.

AI assistance and human review

Drafts are gathered, analysed, and written with AI assistance, working strictly from the cited source material — no step draws on model knowledge in place of a citation. Every draft is then audited by a separate adversarial pass before a human editor reviews it. Nothing is published without that human review; drafts on this site are marked accordingly until it happens.

How we make money

Some articles link to retailers through affiliate programs, disclosed on every page. Affiliate relationships never influence which sources we cite or what we conclude, and commercial links only ever appear as clearly labelled buy buttons — never inline in the body text.
